The Weight He Carries

Jimmy is eleven, and his dad is gone. Nobody sat him down and taught him how to grieve — so he goes quiet, gets called "strong," and carries it all alone.

This is a story about what happens when the strong-and-silent act starts to crack, and what it looks like when someone finally sits beside a boy instead of asking him to hurry up and be okay. Honest, tender, and a little unfinished in the way real healing actually is.

A story for kids who've lost someone. And for the grown-ups who love them.

    Beyond the Story

We know it’s not always (sometimes never) a good time. Late nights, dinner, homework, weekend sports. Very little private time to dig into what’s really bothering your child.

That’s where these books come in. Each one comes with a short description so you know, going in, what it touches on. Some of it might hit close to home (that’s the point). These stories help kids understand hard things, and learn they’re not alone in feeling them.

Like the camelthorn tree, which finds a few drops of water even in dry seasons - what doesn’t break us makes our roots grow deeper. Kids don’t always have the words yet. These books give them a quiet, private way to start finding them, at their own pace, without the pressure of a direct question from someone they love.
